Illuminated gaming setup with mechanical keyboard and monitor

From a studio above Rivington Street, we write slow, considered coverage of RPGs, raids and rigs — the kind of games writing you actually want to read twice.

About the club

A workshop, not a content mill.

SteelQuest Raiders started in 2018 as a Discord for four Shoreditch friends who kept arguing about loot tables at the pub. It grew into a proper editorial team of six writers who each play a game to completion before a single word is published.

No review scores under 40 hours. No sponsored verdicts. No hot takes we can't defend. Everything we publish is stitched together with the same care a leatherworker gives a satchel — slow, deliberate, built to last.

How a piece is made

Four steps to a verdict

01

Full playthrough

Minimum 40 hours in the game — main story, side content and endgame — before notes become a draft.

02

Bench testing

Performance logged across three rigs and a Steam Deck, with frame data and load times recorded, not guessed.

03

Second read

A second writer plays the key sections to challenge the verdict before anything is scheduled to publish.

04

Publish & revisit

We update reviews after major patches — a two-year-old verdict shouldn't rest on launch-day bugs.

From our readers

Why people keep the tab open

"The 12,000-word Baldur's Gate 3 review is the only one I sent to friends. It respected the game and my time — I re-read it after Patch 6."

Marcus T. · Camden, London

"Their Raid Notebook cheat-sheet got our static its first clear. Clear timings, honest about what's RNG — nothing padded for views."

Priya N. · Manchester

"I bought my Steam Deck OLED off the Rig Bench benchmarks. Open spreadsheets meant I could check the exact games I play. Spot on."

Tom W. · Bristol

"Finally a blog that updates old reviews after patches. Their Cyberpunk revisit changed my mind two years later — properly."

Sofia L. · Edinburgh

"No score inflation, no sponsor fog. When they gave a AAA launch a 6/10 and explained why, I trusted every review after that."

Daniel O. · Leeds

"The indie column put three games on my radar I'd never have found. Small studios, thoughtfully covered — this is my Sunday read."

Aisha K. · Glasgow
